Alex Anthonie Gallimore more popularly known as A-Game grew up in Wood’s Town, Discovery Bay in St. Ann, Jamaica. The artiste who received his name through the constant use of the slang ‘a-game’ met Grammy winning producer Kevin ‘Pay Day’ in late 2013 at the start of his solo career. It was through the influence of ‘Pay Day’ that A-Game maintained his name. As a graduate of William Knibb High School and The Edna Manley School of Performing Arts, A-Game has always had a passion for music. “Every generation of my father’s side of the family is musical” shared A-Game “my father Phillip Gallimore started off in music from as far back as I remember but I am the first to pursue music as a career professionally”.
While his inspiration to pursue music stemmed from his youngest brother Ramon Gallimore, A-Game was also inspired by ‘Di Blueprint Band’ in which he remains the lead singer. The band was formed in 2011 but didn’t become popular until 2012 after their win in the Battle of the Bands Competition in London taking him on tours to places such as the United States, the Caribbean, Suriname and Europe. He added, “I see my band as my family and I enjoy working with them”. A-Game who is a lover of the hip hop and dancehall genre also found inspiration from musicians and artistes such as Shabba Ranx, Damian Marley, Konshens, Shaggy, Meek Mill, Ace Hood and Sean Paul.
In June 2014 A-Game released his first official single entitled ‘A-Game Everyday’ by Vern Hill and the video shot and directed by Aeonpro Studio. The song received great reviews and rotations on popular local radio and television stations. Additionally A-Game released his mixtape also entitled ‘A-Game Everyday’ which sparked the interest of several popular producers in Jamaica and the United Kingdom. The mixtape featured singles such as ‘A-Game Everyday’, ‘Working all Day’ and ‘Ego’. A-Game shared, “This mixtape is very unique, it has singles that have a fusion of hip hop and dancehall music and showcases some of my work over the years”. He believes greatly in his music and set to make waves with his new image and sound.
